At Hargreaves Lansdown (HL), we're passionate about making it easy and rewarding for people to engage with their finances. Due to an internal promotion we're looking for a strategic and driven Senior Public Policy Manager to take a leading role in shaping HL's policy positions, influencing regulatory and political stakeholders, and developing thought leadership that positions HL as the leading voice in retail investment.

This role offers a unique opportunity to influence public policy and regulation at the highest levels. What you'll be doing

  • Represent HL on key industry groups such as TISA and the Investment Association, building support and consensus for our policy priorities.
  • Prepare high-quality consultation responses aligned with HL's views.
  • Devise and execute engagement plans with government officials, regulators, and Parliamentarians to proactively influence the policy agenda.
  • Support political engagement by preparing briefing papers for MPs and developing stakeholder relationships across Parliament.
  • Lead the delivery of HL's flagship thought leadership initiative - the Savings and Resilience Barometer - ensuring strong engagement across policymakers, media, think tanks, and industry.
  • Manage the Barometer's strategy, publication, and supporting materials to enhance HL's profile and thought leadership footprint.
  • Support colleagues across HL in understanding relevant policy issues, ensuring alignment across the business.
  • Collaborate with PR, internal comms, and responsible business teams to ensure our public messaging is aligned with policy priorities.

About you

  • A successful track record of influencing policy outcomes.
  • The ability to interpret complex technical and regulatory information and distil it into clear, actionable insights.
  • Strong analytical skills and confidence working with social research and data.
  • Political acumen with a good grasp of the policy-making process and how to navigate it effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn from and support others.
  • A genuine interest in politics and understanding the priorities of key stakeholders.
