About the role:
The Senior Purchasing Project Leader is responsible for coordinating and supporting all Purchasing activity in relation to all NPIP activity and localisation projects. The co-ordination involves the delivery of the New Product Introduction Group Purchasing Policy to comply with the functional requirements of the NPIP process. As a senior within the team, you will assist with the upkeep of Purchasing policy documents, further development of the function and working across multiple JCB business units.
This very demanding role requires the successful candidate to be self-motivated, process driven and work on their own initiative, as well driving success through part of a team. You must be able to communicate well at every level of the business and can prioritise workload and meet very precise deadlines. You’ll present the project scope to the wider purchasing team at the earliest opportunity, ensuring scope of change is understood, along with the opportunities this presents to shape the supply chain, technically and commercially.
What does this role involve day to day?
- Project Sourcing Reviews - Ensure the scope and targets of the new programme are agreed through cross-functional reviews to facilitate early supplier engagement, purchasing category compliance and commercial approach. Support the construction of a synthetic BOM and provide a summary of the existing supplier performance that includes development plans where appropriate.
- Plan for Every Part - Generate and maintain a PFEP to support Engineering in constructing a drawing release plan capable of supporting the overall timing requirements and to project manage the long lead time parts. To work with the various category teams in the creation of appropriate countermeasures and monitor the supplier delivery of those plans.
- Cost Control - working collaboratively with all stakeholders to support the cost target creation process for new parts, ensuring the continual tracking of BOM cost to ensure no creep and tracking of all cost savings opportunities.

- You have a strong sense of urgency and positive attitude
- We’d love it if you had a degree in a relevant discipline however, we are also open to applications with demonstratable experience of project or supplier management, preferably within a Purchasing function
- You’re CIPS/PRINCE2 qualified, this is preferable but not essential
- You’re able to demonstrate knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials for a wide range of categories
- You’re proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP systems
