The recruitment team at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) are delighted to be able to offer a fantastic opportunity within the paediatric cardiac ward, E1, for a customer focussed, friendly and enthusiastic individual, as part of our expanding service.
The ward, a 16 bedded unit, caring for children with a variety of cardiac complications and diagnosis, is a busy medical and surgical ward. The five (soon to be six) beds within the High Dependency cares for pre and post operative cardiac children from birth to 18 years of age. While the ward focuses on preparation for discharge, cardiac catheters, MRI's CT's and other complex cardiac conditions.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
Provide professional nursing leadership at ward/unit level and work with the Matron to enhance nursing practice and strategy.
Undertake nursing bleep holding responsibilities within designated area.
To act as a clinical expert, ensuring the delivery of high standards of patient care, using ‘Foundations of Care’ as a model.
To effectively lead, manage, and develop a designated team.

Qualifications, Knowledge, And Experience
Essential criteria
- 1st Level Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC Register
- Recognised mentorship qualification and experience as a Sign Off mentor
- Degree or working towards
- Completion of appropriate specialty Course
- Higher Education Institute approved course in supporting learners in practice. Supporting a range of learners in practice Supporting colleagues to promote effective learning in practice
- Extensive experience in specialty to include considerable experience at Band 6 level
- Evidence of clinical leadership ability
- Proven management experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Evidence of utilising evidence in practice
- Logical and consistent career pattern
- Expert clinical skills
- Ability to prioritise and deliver agreed objectives

Desirable criteria
