Description
Role: Senior Software Engineer
Location: Sheffield / Birmingham / Edinburgh (Hybrid – 3 Days in Office)
Type: FTE / Subcontractor
Role Summary:
Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure backend services and infrastructure across AWS/GCP. Collaborate with DevOps, Security, and Architecture teams to deliver cloud-native solutions in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop RESTful APIs and frontends using Python, GoLang, and Docker.
- Implement DB changes with Liquibase.
- Build CI/CD pipelines with Terraform, Jenkins, GitLab CI.
- Manage cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP), optimize for cost/security.
- Support live systems and resolve performance issues.
- Ensure compliance with security and regulatory standards.
Required Skills:
- 5+ years in software engineering, large-scale systems experience.
- Proficient in Python, GoLang, Terraform, Ansible.
- Strong in cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP), Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
- Experience with Linux, Relational/NoSQL DBs, microservices, and monitoring tools (ELK, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Familiar with regulated environments (finance/banking).
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
- Experience in financial services.
- AWS/GCP certifications.
- Knowledge of cryptography and compliance framework
