Overview Of Team / Business Area .
The soils team based in Cardiff, Sheffield and Glasgow have a wide range of projects across all our business sectors including energy infrastructure, quarrying, forestry, residential and commercial developments and sports. The projects can be located throughout the UK and occasionally internationally and we are open to consider any office or remote working for the right candidates.
The role
We are looking to recruit a motivated and ambitious Experienced Soil Scientist with a strong technical background ideally at post doctorate to fill a senior role within our well established and expanding team that provides specialist advice on agriculture, soils and peat.
You will be involved in a wide range of projects across all our business sectors including energy infrastructure, quarrying, forestry, residential, commercial development. The projects we work are located throughout the UK and occasionally internationally in remote and challenging locations, for example the Scottish Highlands, where typically field work is campaigned over a week or two week period. We therefore require a dedicated and enthusiastic Soil Scientist with a strong aptitude for hard work, excellent communication skills and a willingness to develop their skills and abilities within this busy team. The role will involve periods of lone-working and may require frequent travel throughout the UK.
Responsibilities
In this exciting role as a senior member of the team, you will, (by working with the team lead)
- Design and complete soil and peat surveys including ALC/LCCA and related fieldwork
- produce written reports for clients
- manage data to support technical reporting, planning applications and EIA
- liaise with clients, landowners, contractors, statutory authorities and third parties
About You
The successful candidates will ideally have been involved in post graduate research in soils science and have an aptitude for designing and undertaken field based surveys. A detailed knowledge of field survey techniques is essential. hold a postgraduate qualification in Soil Science, or a related degree with relevant practical experience
