The Role: Senior Solution Architect
Contract Length: 6 Months
Rate: £850 INSIDE IR35

This is a great opportunity to take on a high-impact role in a key area of government work. The Senior Solutions Architect will help shape the design of complex systems and services, making sure they align with wider organisational goals. You’ll play a key role in ensuring quality, consistency, and strategic fit across different technical projects.
In this role, you'll:
- Take the lead on a major project to replace various communication and collaboration tools (such as phone systems, video conferencing, and room booking) with a single unified solution
- Design and oversee technical solutions, and clearly explain the thinking behind your decisions
- Ensure technical work meets high standards and aligns with wider government strategies
- Explore how we can align more closely with other departments across government
- Mentor and support colleagues within technical teams
- Work closely with other architects to ensure consistency and best practice

Key Requirements:
This role requires strong technical knowledge and a solid understanding of modern digital services.
Ideally, you’ll be experienced in the following areas:
- Cloud technologies such as Azure and AWS
- Microsoft 365 platforms
- Networks, telephony systems, and other digital solutions
- Scaled Agile working methods and frameworks
- A preference for using off-the-shelf, community-supported products wherever possible - as long as they meet security and technical needs
- Clear communication skills - able to explain technical concepts in plain language to different audiences, and comfortable working with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong governance and assurance skills - experience using tools like design standards and principles to maintain quality, as well as monitoring and security being part of your approach from the start
- Confident decision-making - able to lead or advise on decisions where there’s some complexity or risk, bring people together around a shared approach, and show leadership in setting high technical standards
- Strategic thinking - able to shape and contribute to technical strategies, roadmaps, patterns, and policies across teams or departments
