Job Description
As a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting our Infra-Red Sensing and Integrated Communication Systems businesses, which are at the forefront of defence electronics.
In this high-impact role, you’ll work side by side with passionate project teams and the wider Leonardo UK Supplier Quality community. Together, you’ll drive real change—identifying, shaping, and delivering strategic supply chain improvements that directly influence the quality and performance of vital components and sub-assemblies across our world-class programs.
Your Impact
- Identify and implement Integrated Project Team (IPT) improvement opportunities across the external supply chain.
- Proactively identify and manage supply chain risks and opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100 Revision D, with a particular focus on process adherence.
- Drive internal procurement improvement initiatives to support delivery and cost efficiencies.
- Lead Supplier Failure Review Boards to enhance IPT outcomes.
- Support implementation of the Supplier Surveillance Plan to maintain strategic supply chain oversight.
- Participate in Generic Capability Reviews and ad hoc procurement and supply chain activities as needed.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience with governance standards such as AS9100 / ISO9001 and a strong commitment to continuous improvement.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and quality control within a supply chain context.
- Ability to develop and analyse key metrics to support data-driven decision-making.
- Comfortable working within multidisciplinary project teams, balancing governance and support.
- Proactive management of non-conformances and supplier issues.
- Familiarity with quality tools and techniques such as APQP, PPAP, 8D, PFMEA, Lean, 5S, DMAIC, and root cause analysis.
- Understanding of procurement practices in defence or similarly regulated industries.
- Experience conducting or supporting quality audits (Lead Auditor training is a plus).
- Proficient in SAP and MS Office; able to prepare reports and analyse system data.
