Brief Description
Working within a technical team to support both Distribution & Plant and Overhead Line disciplines in delivering safe and effective railway maintenance. Using technology, data and modern techniques to improve working methods and efficiency.
About The Role (External)
What will you be doing? Every day will be different, but you can expect to be involved in the following activities:

You'll be responsible for ensuring all work is carried out safely, adhering to our robust systems and procedures. Your keen eye for detail will help you manage and check the quality of work delivered, ensuring our assets meet the highest standards.
You'll play a pivotal role in preparing work and resource specifications, method statements, and plans. Your technical expertise will be invaluable as you provide support and guidance, design, install, test, and commission cutting-edge equipment. You'll undertake and supervise a variety of technical tasks, from surveys and design work to inspections, tests, and data analysis.
As a key member of our team, you'll prioritise work and agree on plans for the group, prepare specifications, and requisition materials. You'll manage processes and systems for the calibration and certification of tools and equipment, ensuring everything runs smoothly. Your organisational skills will be essential as you manage information to update systems, databases, and records.

Key Accountabilities:
- Carry out work safely and in accordance with the safe systems of work procedures, method statements, plans and other instructions.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures
- Manage and check the quality of work delivered and confirm assets are compliant to standards.
- Manage the preparation of work and resource specifications, method statements and plans.
- Provide technical support and guidance.
- Design, install, test and commission equipment.
- Undertake and supervise technical tasks, survey and design work.
- Undertake technical inspections, tests, investigations and analysis of technical data.
- Prioritise work arising and agree work plans for the group.
- Prepare specifications and requisition for materials.
- Manage processes and systems for the calibration and certification of tools and equipment.
- Manage information to update systems, databases and records.
- Contribute to your own development and that of others.
Experience, skills, knowledge and competencies:
Are you ready to showcase your expertise and make a significant impact? We're looking for someone with a deep understanding of technical support activities and techniques, coupled with extensive knowledge and experience in electrification, plant maintenance, and construction management processes, systems, and standards. Your familiarity with design requirements, processes, and techniques will be invaluable.
Safety is our top priority, and we need someone who can demonstrate, promote, and embed safe working behaviours within the team. Your exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, will help you effectively convey ideas and instructions. As a natural leader, you'll have the ability to coach, influence, and develop others, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
We're seeking someone who holds and retains the competencies relevant to this post and required by business needs. Ideally, you should hold or be working towards an NVQ level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in an engineering or leadership subject. Additionally, being able and willing to drive vehicles as required by business needs is essential.
