At Rare, our Senior Technical Program Managers (TPMs) play a key role in helping teams stay focused, aligned, and continuously improving—driving meaningful impact for both our players and the studio.
This particular role centres on Player Safety, Customer Service, and Compliance—critical areas that help us build safe, engaging, and resilient experiences for everyone who plays our games. Whether it’s reducing risk or strengthening protections, you’ll bring structure and coordination to initiatives that matter.
This position is all about bringing clarity, alignment, and real momentum to Rare’s efforts around safety, support, and security. You’ll help connect the dots between strategy and execution—ensuring we deliver on our goals while staying grounded in what’s best for our players.
You’ll work closely with teams across Customer Service, Player Safety, Moderation, Enforcement, and Anti-Cheat to define success, track progress, and identify opportunities for improvement. You’ll also take the lead on Rare’s Secure Future Initiative (SFI), a Microsoft-wide effort aimed at strengthening security and compliance in how we build and maintain our games.
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the program strategy for Player Safety, Customer Service, and Compliance across the studio.
- Lead the Secure Future Initiative (SFI) at Rare—partnering with engineering and security stakeholders to embed security compliance and modern practices into how we build.
- Define and track success metrics (KPIs) across support and safety domains—ensuring strong alignment with Rare’s values and player expectations.
- Drive change initiatives that improve how we work, reduce risk, and increase our ability to scale confidently.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration, bringing together diverse teams across multiple disciplines and backgrounds.
- Surface risks and unlock opportunities, guiding the studio to deliver early and deliver well.
- Champion performance, security, and value delivery, ensuring our efforts create meaningful impact.
- Communicate clearly and regularly with senior stakeholders, teams, partners and executive functions to ensure alignment and visibility.
- Support broader studio priorities, scaling your impact over time to other areas of strategic importance.
- Proactively identify inefficiencies that are holding the team back, and drive better, more efficient workflows.
- Be an active participant and contributor to the Xbox Game Studios ecosystem.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
- Prior work history as a Technical Program Manager, Producer, or operational leader in complex, cross-functional environments for shipped software products or services.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across organisational boundaries, build relationships and bring in ideas to achieve broader organisational goals.
- Experience of bringing order and clarity to complex situations.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and influencing skills.
Desirable Skills And Experience
- Experience of live service games and their unique technical requirements and opportunities.
- A strong track record of delivering programs in areas such as Player Support, Trust & Safety, or Security & Compliance.
- A structured, outcomes-focused mindset—comfortable defining metrics, driving delivery, and surfacing trade-offs.
- Familiarity with software engineering environments, development processes, and/or technical risk management.
- A commitment to high-integrity, secure development practices and doing the right thing for players and teams.
