Our Building Services team are looking for a Senior Technical Support Manager to join the team on a project in London.
Purpose of the role to enable the activities of the Hard FM operational and capital works delivery teams. Analyse the risk of the sites contractual and legislative compliance, proposing evidence and work methodologies to mitigate any known or foreseen risk. Act as a focal point for all enabling functions and governing bodies to ensure that requirements are not mis-understood or followed without review by the delivery teams. Challenge internally and externally from a point of experience to create bespoke, efficient methodologies that conform to all requirements. Act as support to the client, OPEX, CAPEX teams and the supply chain, ensuring the SGM has capacity to holistically manage and develop the contract.
What you’ll do:
Risk & Compliance
- Own and govern the Safe System of Works (SSOW), enabling operations and capital delivery while maintaining H&S governance and compliance.
- Validate and quality‑check compliance evidence from BAU and project teams to ensure it meets legislative and operational requirements.
- Conduct impartial contract compliance reviews and risk analyses, propose corrective action plans and amend planned works based on findings.
- Monitor site management systems for alarms, trends and anomalies and implement condition‑based monitoring and mitigation strategies.
- Liaise with Commercial and the SGM on predicted operational risks to support accurate budget accrual and present cost‑effective alternatives.
Support & Development
- Review and walk through planned/reactive documentation with operatives to ensure understanding, accuracy and alignment with delivery standards.
- Analyse operational asset data to produce site status reports and drive changes to the planned works programme.
- Provide technical subject‑matter support to client, OPEX, CAPEX and the supply chain, contributing to proposals and lifecycle planning.
- Lead technical investigations on high‑risk issues, produce engineers’ reports and recommend remedial strategies.
- Oversee OPEX reporting and the CAPEX lifecycle pipeline, working with Commercial/Procurement to balance best value and operational performance.
People
- Develop and upskill the technical team through bespoke development plans, working with the Operational Manager to close skills gaps.
- Own the site competencies matrix, ensuring staff and subcontractor competencies are documented and accessible.
- Provide informed technical input to staff reviews and appraisals and support succession planning.
- Promote team engagement by recognising success and reinforcing a culture of continuous improvement and professional standards.
What you’ll bring to the role
- Minimum Level 4 qualification (National Certificate, preferably HNC, City & Guilds or equivalent) and indentured apprenticeship.
- Minimum 7 years’ operational management experience in building services FM.
- Proven Safe System of Works experience, including management of approved persons on electrical/mechanical systems.
- Strong problem‑solving track record, report writing and data analytics skills.
- Solid operational understanding of mechanical and electrical systems with specialist bias, and confident MS Office capability.
Location & hours London — contract-specific hours and on‑call duties as required.
