About the role
Join the University of Oxford at an exciting time as we open the new Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities—a landmark building bringing together world-class research, teaching, and cultural engagement. This state-of-the-art facility includes a Concert Hall, Theatre, Cinema, Black Box space, Exhibition Hall, Music Studios, and a Rehearsal Hall. The Senior Technicians will be responsible for supporting these venues, and the wider building, ensuring optimal management and coordination of the facilities and providing a high quality of technical expertise and day to day running of the venues.
As Senior Technician (Sound), you will lead on the safe and effective delivery of technical services across our performance and public spaces, acting as the technical lead for audio systems. You’ll work with cutting-edge equipment including d&b audiotechnik & QSC PA systems and Yamaha control surfaces, supporting artists, productions, and events to deliver exceptional experiences.
About you
We are looking for a candidate with significant experience in live arts, music, or event technical roles, bringing a deep understanding of the unique demands of live performance environments. The ideal applicant will have expertise in professional audio systems and networks, including Dante, Yamaha consoles, and d&b audiotechnik systems.
You should possess strong troubleshooting skills, able to resolve technical issues quickly and effectively under pressure. A solid knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and rigging practices is essential to ensure safe and compliant operations. You’ll have excellent communication and teamwork skills, as this role requires close collaboration with artists, production teams, and technical colleagues to deliver outstanding live experiences. You must be prepared to work evenings and weekends as required.
