Position Type: Permanent, 35 hours per week

Hybrid: 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home

Job Purpose

This is a great opportunity to join the Crisis Management division. You will oversee the Underwriting and maintenance of our insurance policies and, be part of a successful team dedicated to growing a profitable book of Product Recall business.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate, review and price more complex and higher value global product recall risks, with a focus on generating underwriting profit.
• To provide technical expertise throughout the underwriting process.
• Have a deep understanding of Product Recall insurance products and policies, including Food & Beverage, Automotive Component Parts, Consumer Products, Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices.
• To enhance and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents and clients.
• To assist in the development and growth of a profitable Product Recall portfolio.
• To motivate, challenge and assist junior team members in their personal and professional development.
  
  

Performance Objectives

• To be considered a Senior Underwriter, you must bring a high level of expertise and judgement to the underwriting function. Our expectations would be that any candidate would:
• Provide clear, precise evaluation and pricing of risk in accordance with company guidelines and risk appetite.
• Foster strong, productive relationships with brokers and intermediaries.
• Support any new strategic initiatives such as product launches
  
  

Essential

Skills and Experience Specification:

• Ideally a minimum of 8+ years’ underwriting experience within Product Recall.
• Bachelors degree or similar professional qualification
• Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to influence
• Experience in handling large and complex risks
• Strong broker network with proven experience in building strong business relationships.
• Willingness to support the development of junior underwriters
  
  

Desirable

• Knowledge of Reinsurance structures and treaty arrangements
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and frameworks
