Job Profile Summary
Working within the Marine Specialty department as a Senior Underwriter for Marine Cargo and Freight Liability business
Job Description
Develop existing broker relations to maintain and expand current book of business
Generate new business opportunities in line with Lonham growth strategy
Gain knowledge of and articulate Lonham client proposition
Underwriting, reviewing new and renewal risks, taking into account type of risk, nature of cargo, limits, voyages, stock locations, turnover. rating guidelines and claims experience.
Production and distribution of policy documentation.
Input and maintain accurate records within the Underwriting and Accounts systems and capture relevant data to allow for the successful monitoring and analysis of risks written.
Monitor risks written that are due for renewal.
Prepare reports and statistical information as required by the Underwriters.
Liaise with brokers and policy holders to obtain information to provide a quote and produce insurance documentation. Chase for outstanding premium/adjustments/declarations.
Raise invoices/credits as required in relation to the policy wording.
Liaise with other departments in Lonham and Chaucer as required.
Liaise with brokers and clients to develop good working relationships.
Attend training sessions and other meetings, as and when required
Skills and Competencies
Relevant Cargo and Freight Liability experience
An aptitude for developing and maintaining good client relationships
Experience of negotiating with brokers and liaising with clients
Understanding of business planning process
Understands the concept of modelling
Organised and able to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities
Able to communicate with different levels and is adaptable
Resilient and able to work in a pressured environment
