Circa £65,000 + benefits

We are expanding our existing presence in Nations and Regions across the UK to increase our focus on supporting our members, developing key relationships, networks, and communities for People Professionals and working collaboratively with our local branches and volunteers on local member engagement opportunities.
The role
As the Senior UX Designer, you will play a pivotal role in providing strategic oversight, governance, and leadership for UX design across the entire CIPD business. You will be responsible for driving UX strategy and ensuring its effective implementation in all new and existing online customer experiences. You will also help educate and skill up other teams across the organisation with digital/web responsibilities. By championing user-centred design principles, you will deliver exceptional user experiences that align with business objectives and meet the evolving needs of our customers.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading and providing expert oversight on UX strategy and best practices for all CIPD websites, online touchpoints, and tools, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.
- Driving the adoption and implementation of a holistic user-centred design approach across Product, Marketing, and Content teams at the CIPD, as well as external development partners, fostering a culture of UX excellence.
- Developing and maintaining a comprehensive UX strategy and governance framework that ensures consistency, quality, and alignment of UX design activities across the organisation.
- Facilitating in-depth research and analysis to identify customer needs, whilst controlling the user research budget within the team.
- Performing regular usability testing, to ensure a customer first approach is maintained across our portfolio.
- Collaborating with stakeholders such as technical product managers and developers, to define and refine UX requirements, ensuring that user needs are communicated and integrated into product development processes.
- Establishing and maintain a design system and style guide that promotes consistency, efficiency and brand alignment across all digital touchpoints, enabling the rapid creation of user-friendly and visually cohesive experiences.
- In collaboration with the Knowledge and Metadata Manager, being responsible for the Information Architecture on the websites, particularly the org schemes, site structure, navigation and labels.
- Acting as CIPD’s online accessibility champion; drive improvements across CIPD’s online platforms to conform to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (Currently WCAG 2.2 Level AA).
What You’ll Need To Be Successful
- Years of proven UX experience at a similar senior level.
- Expertise in standard UX software such as Figma, Sketch, Balsamiq, Azure, UXPin, etc.
- A solid grasp of user-cantered design (UCD), rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis,
- A good understanding of accessibility and inclusive design.
- A clear understanding of the importance of user-cantered design and design thinking.
- Demonstrates a good grasp of technology, business strategy and human psychology/behavioural economics to deliver online solutions that balances the needs of the customer with business interests and technical viability.
- Ability to rapidly test and iterate designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently.
- Demonstrates a good understanding of usability and accessibility best practice.
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate UX design processes, ideas, and solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and strategic thinking skills.
- Ability to co-ordinate several projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment and utilises an iterative method and flexible approach to enable rapid delivery.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
