What we're looking for
We’re on the hunt for a radically hands‑on Senior Web Developer - someone who doesn’t wait for permission, doesn’t need hand‑holding, and thrives pushing boundaries. Your mission: rebuild websites that are immersive, playful, and unapologetically futuristic. Think: add video, make text crawl around the video, imaginative interactions, all‑custom pages, immersive sci‑fi flair. No templates. No safe zones.
For this frontend focused role, we also have some specific asks:
- As this is an SE4 position, we’re looking for someone with strong industry experience of using React Native / React with TypeScript for a minimum of 5+ years. If it’s a less than that, maybe you want to look at our Product Engineer role.
What you’ll be doing
- Rebuild and reimagine websites from the ground up - every page is custom-coded, unique, experimental.
- Add multimedia experiences, like embedding video backgrounds and animating text that reacts to scroll or hover.
- Build interactions that feel alive - interactive “immersive sci‑fi” components that spark curiosity.
- Own your work - you understand urgency, deliver without prodding, and ship polished results fast.
- Translate Figma designs into fully functioning experiences - pixel-perfect, responsive, and dynamic.
- Iterate swiftly based on feedback - you're comfortable shipping often and refining as you go.
About You
- Senior-level experience in web development - solid track record rebuilding or transforming websites with custom code.
- Expert in front-end technologies, including (but not limited to) HTML5, CSS3 (animations and transitions), JavaScript (modern frameworks or vanilla).
- Figma master - you can interpret complex designs and turn them into fluid, working pages.
- Independent, proactive mindset - you can take a concept and run with it; no micromanagement needed.
- Comfortable with urgency - you understand deadlines, act with immediacy, and deliver without sacrificing quality.
- Creative coder - you relish building playful, experimental, sci-fi‑themed interactions that stand out.
Nice-to-Have (Bonus Points)
- Experience with canvas, WebGL, or three.js for 3D or immersive effects.
- Prior work featuring motion design, scroll-triggered animations, or interactive storytelling.
- Familiarity with performance optimization for dynamic media-rich pages.

- Built as a Ruby on Rails monolith with a React Native frontend using TypeScript.
- We leverage Python for machine learning services and PostgreSQL as our database.

- Our CI/CD pipeline is fully automated, with production deployments on every merge via Heroku.
While we take a pragmatic approach, we place a strong emphasis on quality. Our code is peer-reviewed, and we maintain automated testing using Minitest and CircleCI. We're also actively working towards a more modular architecture, focusing on separating concerns to achieve all the benefits of microservices within a monolith, while progressively refactoring our code as we build new features. - Interview with the Recruiter (30 mins)
