Aneurin Bevan University Health Board support flexible working.

Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the living wage of £12.60 per hour - £24,638 per annum.

This temporary top up will be in place until the annual pay uplift for 2025/26 is confirmed.

Job Overview

Exciting opportunities have arisen within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board operational transformation team as a Service Improvement Managers. We are looking to appoint a highly motivated Individuals to join our team, on a permanent basis. Working with the Corporate team, you will be based at St. Cadocs hospital but will be required to travel across Health Board sites to support and work with the divisions and teams identifying support.

As a Service Improvement Manager, you will support and drive the development and implementation of new pathways and processes in line with the vision of the transformational aspirations of the Health Board. Working with defined teams this function will scope and propose service improvement in order to develop new service models and streamline operational delivery pathways.

The function will work with, and support senior managers, supervisors, and where required external partners to identify and robustly plan health and care population needs and advise on the best approach for service re-design and implementation, outlining risks and benefits.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting Senior Managers and Clinicians.
  • The post holder will provide high level, professional and confidential support to the Senior Management team under the management of the Assistant Directorate Manager covering all aspects of managerial support.
  • To act as contact point for information queries. This includes responding to adhoc queries and supporting the senior management team in the development of business plans and service strategies.
  • To liaise with other Directorate teams within the Division and across the Health Board to access other systems/information and ensure continuous development of systems/processes within the Division.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Degree or possess equivalent level of skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of project/programme management

Desirable criteria

  • Prince 2 Practitioner / Managing Successful Programmes(MSP)

Experience & Skills

Essential criteria

  • Experience Communicating with all levels of NHS Professional staff & public
  • Experience of producing management information reports and project documentation
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative and self-manage workload
  • Experience managing other team members

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of operating at a management level

Knowledge & Personal Attributes

Essential criteria

  • Extensive Knowledge of NHS policies & procedures within a project management context
  • Knowledge of how to apply and tailor project management methodologies
  • Experience working to deadlines under pressure
  • Evidence of an extensive knowledge of MS Office application & their uses within project management
  • Extensive knowledge of PAS/Myrddyn/EMIS/VISION

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of managing and developing staff
