Are you an experienced project manager looking to lead and drive transformation initiatives within a dynamic local authority? West Berkshire Council is seeking a Service Lead - Projects to support the Service Director - Transformation, Customer & ICT in delivering high-quality project management and transformation services.

The Role

As the Service Lead - Projects, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading and managing a team of project managers to ensure the successful delivery of transformation and improvement projects.
  • Working closely with the Service Director to provide regular reports and updates on project progress, risks, and issues.
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders to identify project requirements, scope, and objectives.
  • Ensuring effective project planning, resource allocation, and timeline management.
  • Monitoring and evaluating project outcomes, making recommendations for improvement.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance on project management methodologies and best practices.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Extensive experience in project management, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex transformation projects.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels.
  • Sound knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
  • Proactive and solution-focused, with the ability to identify and mitigate project risks.
