Position Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Purchasing and Sourcing team in the Instrument and Enterprise Services (IES) division. This position will be responsible for the organization and purchasing of service materials (spare parts or consumables, as aligned with the order plan), to ensure our customers’ requirements are consistently met or exceeded. There will be opportunities to grow and develop in the role as we look to optimise our existing processes and make improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procurement of parts to support spare parts needs worldwide and primarily for the European Distribution centre (EDC).
- Proactively identifies and handles areas of supply risk. Understanding of developments and changes at suppliers that may affect the supply of materials and taking appropriate measures to maintain delivery capability.
- Responsible for supplier relationship management, including weekly and monthly review meetings to discuss performance and opportunities, and ensuring that IES requirements are met.
- Work closely with the other departments of the Supply Chain (Logistics, Demand Planning, Master Data, Sourcing) to resolve problems, suggest solutions and drive process optimisation.
- Review and evaluation of suppliers with regard to compliance with the agreed service level agreements and in particular delivery times.
- Demonstrate logical sourcing knowledge to achieve overall cost reductions.
- Support of the organization in all vital lifecycle activities (obsolescence, discontinuation, new part introduction).
- Ensuring the integrity and maintenance of critical material master fields such as lead time, MRP type, etc.
- Undertake special tasks and projects in the area of IES Supply Chain, as required.
Key Requirements:
- Ideally Bachelor's degree and/or further vocational training (e.g. APICS, CIPS, BME) and/or proven, solid experience in supply chain principles and material management in an international and fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills (data gathering, interpretation, problem solving).
- Strong skills to: coordinate and prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, solve problems, track, and at the same time balance multiple priorities to ensure goals are met on time.
- Demonstrate Thermo Fisher Scientific's values of integrity, intensity, innovation and commitment.
- Excellent social skills required; both orally and in writing.
- Excellent digital literacy required; Efficiency in SAP, Excel and Outlook.
- Experience with the characteristics and complexity of a service organization and spare parts supply chain is an advantage.
