Join our Team as a Sessional English Tutor
Are you an experienced English tutor with a passion for sharing your knowledge? We’re looking for a dynamic and dedicated tutor to deliver engaging Functional Skills English courses at our Adult Education Centre in Liskeard. You’ll also have the opportunity to deliver outreach programmes in partnership with local organisations, helping to broaden access to learning opportunities across East Cornwall.
In this rewarding role, you’ll be responsible for teaching C&G English Functional Skills courses at Entry Level to Level 2.

What You’ll Do
- Deliver high-quality, inspiring FS English sessions to young learners (16-18) and adults
- Plan and deliver engaging sessions tailored to learners’ needs and goals.
- Assess learners’ progress, provide constructive feedback, and offer appropriate support.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that motivates and encourages learners to succeed.
- Collaborate with our quality team to ensure compliance with Ofsted standards.
- Support and guide Learning Support Assistants when required.
What We’re Looking For
- Enthusiastic and knowledgeable tutors with a passion for teaching English (holding at least a Level 3 qualification in English).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to helping every learner achieve their potential.
- Flexibility to teach during the day or evening, depending on availability and learner interest.
- A generic teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed. or equivalent) is required.
- The post holder must also be a confident and competent ICT user.
The normal duties of the role will involve travel. It is a condition of employment that the role holder can exercise satisfactory travel mobility in order to fulfil the obligations of the role. For those journeys where an alternative form of transport is unavailable or impracticable the role holder will be required to provide a suitable vehicle.
