Brief Description
Review the quality of safety, health & environment data quality to provide assurance that the specified levels are being achieved and to identify potential data improvement actions.
About The Role (External)
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and implement methods for assessing and reporting on safety, health & environment data quality.
- Carry out independent checks on data used in the production of corporate safety, health & environment reports to give assurance on the accuracy and completeness of the information being provided.
- Investigate trends in measures to identify anomalies. Analyse unexplained trends in measures to identify whether they are caused by data quality issues.
- Investigate reports of inconsistent or incorrect reporting and identify any actions needed to address issues identified.
- Carry out independent checks to confirm that the correct definitions are being used for safety, health & environment reporting.
- Investigate information derived from different reporting systems or different teams in Network Rail to identify discrepancies in data quality. Develop recommendations on how to tackle any issues found.
- Provide data quality input to the development of safety, health & environment reporting procedures, so that data quality is considered at the outset.
Essential
Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Proven experience in analytical techniques.
- Qualification in numerate subject
- Good numeracy skills.
- Excellent spreadsheet skills.
- Ability to link information from different sources to identify discrepancies.
Desirable
A degree or equivalent in numerate discipline.
NEBOSH Diploma (Stage 1)

Salary: Band 4B (£35,582- £42,218) plus a Location Allowance of £3,270.
