Are you a passionate and experienced nurse to take the next step in your oncology career? Do you want to be part of a forward-thinking team delivering exceptional cancer care in a modern, purpose-built facility?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to join and help our Haematology & Oncology Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) Unit, based in the state-of-the-art Cancer Centre at MKUH.

Why join us? Opened in February 2020, our Cancer Centre is a vibrant, expanding hub of innovation and compassionate care. You will work as part of a skilled and supportive team within the Macmillan Suite, delivering high-quality, patient-centred cancer treatment to the community of Milton Keynes and surrounding areas.

What we're looking for: We're seeking a dynamic and dedicated Registered Nurse with:

  • A current band 6 qualification or readiness to step into this level
  • A SACT qualification (essential)
  • Strong leadership skills and a collaborative approach
  • A passion for delivering outstanding care to patients, families and carers.

We are unable to provide sponsorship for this role.

Interview date: 04.09.2025

Training & Support: We are committed to continuous professional development. Our team benefits from access to extensive training opportunities and mentorship from a progressive management team.

What makes us different: Our service is built around holistic, patient-focused care. We have:

  • A dedicated Wellbeing team to support recovery and quality of life
  • Macmillan Information and Support Centre onsite
  • Partnership with Citizens Advice Bureau
  • A wide range of carer and patient support groups available

In this role, you'll work closely with the senior nursing leadership team to:

  • provide visible, professional and compassionate leadership
  • Maintain and enhance standards of clinical excellence
  • Drive improvements in patient outcomes and experiences for individuals undergoing SACT
  • Support the education, development and well-being of the nursing team.

This is an exciting opportunity to step into a pivotal role within a dynamic and compassionate team at the heart of cancer care. As a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse on the Macmillan Chemotherapy Day Unit, you will provide visible, professional, and supportive leadership, acting as the Unit representative in the absence of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.

You'll deliver expert, specialist care to patients receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT), with a focus on oncology and haematology. Your clinical excellence, leadership, and passion will help drive forward high standards of patient care, safety, and service development.
