Sister/Charge Nurse - 6 months Secondment
Department Intensive Care Unit
Band 6 £38,682 - £46,580 per annum, pro rata
Hours 37.5 per week all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
Are you positive, proactive, hardworking and self-motivated looking for a professionally challenging, yet exciting role with the potential for supported personal development and career progression? Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Intensive Care Unit wants to meet you as an expert critical care practitioner to join our nursing leadership team.
We are a 10 bedded Intensive Care Unit that has recently been refurbished in a University Teaching Hospital managing emergency, elective and paediatric patients from across the region.
Our staff are the key to our success and your development is essential to our future growth and progress. You already possess significant critical care experience; however your ongoing development remains our priority for you to support staff performance and professional development whilst ensuring a productive work environment. As a dynamic and friendly team, we will provide a tailored education strategy to complete National Step 4 Competency Framework, access assessor and supervisor training, clinical, teaching and leadership opportunities across the Trust.

Role Profile
The surgery division at MKUH, which covers specialties including theatres and the Intensive Care Unit, offers a variety of roles and opportunities, both clinical and non-clinical. The division are looking for passionate, enthusiastic and forward-thinking professionals to join the team.
MKUH is one of the leading hospitals in Europe for implementing robotics to assist in surgery, becoming the first in the continent to use the CMR Versius robot for gynaecological surgery. Since its introduction in 2019, the theatres team have completed over 500 surgical cases, the first hospital in the UK to reach this milestone, achieving this in March 2023.
As well as being an innovator in robotics, the Trust is proud to be part of the New Hospital Programme, with plans to expand and increase our surgical capacity to meet the health needs of our communities now and in the future.

- To provide clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and support staff
- To be accountable for own professional actions
- To deliver patient care, acting as role model to all levels of nursing staff
- To have expert clinical knowledge and skills within the specialism of critical care
- To ensure the effective running of the department in the absence of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse
