Site Engineer – OHL to join the
BTNO project in Ipswich.
Working closely with the Project Manager, Project Director and wider delivery team, you’ll play a key role in the
planning, execution, and successful delivery of our overhead line works — ensuring they’re completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
- Deliver and oversee day-to-day site engineering activities across OHL works.
- Interpret and communicate specified engineered solutions to working parties.
- Supervise and support the delivery team, ensuring works are completed right first time, in line with safety and quality standards.
- Set people to work in line with company procedures and ensure sustainable and safe practices on site.
- Monitor and report on time, cost, quality, safety and other key project KPIs.
- Drive compliance with project scope, design requirements and customer expectations.
- Actively contribute to commissioning, handover and close-out of project phases.
What you'll be doing
- Attend periodic project reviews / project meetings
- Maintain accurate project records (progress, daily diaries etc.)
- Prepare both internal/external reports and liaise with stakeholders
- Helps to ensure reports provide relevant information to enable informed, cost- effective decisions in line with overall strategy
- Helps to ensure scope and package assignment supports the team in coordinated working
- Specify, understand and implement technical information and drawings into delivery

- Management of subcontractors, including monitoring of contractor attendance and progress, providing direct instruction and support as necessary, such that contractual arrangements are achieved
- Help to ensure procurement plans are available in line with the overall project plans, such that material/resources/supply chain can be delivered to meet scheduled deadlines
- Follow targets/KPI’s in line with project objectives and monitor performance
- Help to ensure assurance activities (audits) are undertaken and take appropriate action on findings
- Contribute towards workshops that cover the principles of continuous improvement
- Help to develop, implement and periodically update resource loaded schedules
- Ensure team adopt productivity and project controls techniques
- Monitor progress and implement Short Interval Control processes/hold weekly meeting
- Ensure production of operational milestones reflect master schedule and customer expectations
- Coordinate with other project activities and internal functions
- Awareness of cost / budget
- Awareness of commercial impact
- Escalation of commercial change
- Requestion of plant and materialsMaintain Digital Group Minimum Standards and operate with appropriate level of digital tools
- Ensure the team has the correct level of digital training
Who we're looking for
The Following Qualities/experience Are Desirable
- Experience in implementing safe systems of work
- Experience in managing risks and change processes
- Good understanding of the standard forms of contracts
- Proficient in commercial/project management communications
- Able to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all levels of the organisation
- Good interpersonal skills that enable working relationships to be developed at all levels across the business and be able to negotiate and influence
- Able to undertake work in high pressure situations with a flexible attitude
- A record of a solutions-based approach to problem solving
- Demonstrate awareness and support of the benefits of diversity and inclusion
- Identify and drive personal development
- Proficient on O365
The Candidate Is Likely To Have The Following
- Holds or working towards a formal qualification in construction/engineering or equivalent industry experience
- Holds CSCS and SSSTS or equivalent
