Job Title: Site Services Engineer
Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Working Hours/Shift Pattern: 7am - 3:30pm Monday - Thursday, 7am - 14:30pm on Friday, 39 hours/week, 15-minute paid break in morning, 30 min unpaid lunch
Type of Employment: 12 weeks temporary to permanent

Main duties & responsibilities:
The purpose of the role:
A multi skilled engineer capable of working on, repairing and maintaining a wide range of mechanical industrial rotating equipment, pumps & gearboxes whilst working to and complying with the company’s health & safety procedures and adhering to company SSW & RAMS.
Working in client southampton engineering facility both in house and on site at a variety of customer sites in the area, within a busy 24-hour 7 day a week operation supporting strategic customers from a well-equipped workshop environment. To continue to encourage participation, innovation & creativity to improve the working environment.
About You:
- To contribute to ensuring that client provides its customer base unrivalled quality repairs and service across a wide range of repair and maintenance services.
- To become a key member of a successful operation working with highly experienced engineers on variety of Rotating electrical and mechanical equipment.
Role Responsibilities will include:
- You will carry out Repairs to all types of industrial equipment including AC and DC motors, Motorised Gearboxes, Gearbox’s, Pumps, Fan units and other associated rotating equipment
- You will have the ability to fault find and identify and rectify defects and worn / damaged components
- Have as a minimum basic electrical testing capability to assess electrical condition of AC & DC components
- Have sound mechanical engineering knowledge to identify and rectify faulty and worn / damaged components and understand reclamation techniques and reverse engineering options
- Pump experience namely hot oil, water, also basic hydraulic knowledge.
Essential skills / experience / qualifications:
- You will be flexible and be prepared to work the hours required in a demanding and busy 24/7 service orientated environment
- Participate in call out rota as required
- CCNSG essential or another industry equivalent essential
- Water customers - Water hygiene passport and individual customer training required (Thames Water passport) are desirable but not essential
- You will be used to working on site in addition to the workshop when required
- Health & safety will be at the forefront of everything you do
- You will be happy working with a team as well as working on your own initiative
- Qualifications- relevant NCQ/City and Guilds - fitting/turning/mechanical/electrical engineering relevant to industry on a case-by-case basis OR/ relevant industry experience/ time served or international qualifications of similar level
- Able to speak and communicate in technical industry terminology to relevant English standards - able to understand RAMS and risk assessments and technical instructions, able to abide by H&S on-site
- Largely mechanical duties and skillset required, electrical experience and abilities are beneficial but not essential other than basic understanding of electrical knowledge and electrical testing (e.g. test for dead) being needed
