The Neurosurgical team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is looking to recruit a full-time Skullbase Fellow.

The successful applicant will commence from December 2025 for a period of 6 months in the first instance extendible to one year subject to satisfactory appraisal at 5 months.

The skullbase fellow will be working with Mr Ramesh Nair, Mr Nigel Mendoza, Mr Arthur Dalton and will be located at Charing Cross (CXH) hospital & St Mary’s Hospital (SMH).

The post is suitable for a candidate wishing to subspecialise in skull base surgery with a focus on Endonasal and Transcranial Skull base procedures.

The ideal candidate will be at year 7 or 8 of training and approaching CCT. Possession of FRCS (Surgical Neurosurgery ) or equivalent would be an advantage.

The successful applicant will be expected to have full registration with the General Medical Council with a licence to practise.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Neurosurgical team at the Imperial College Hospitals NHS Trust.

This appointment aims to offer subspecialty training in skull base surgery for senior neurosurgical trainees who have completed their general neurosurgical training (post FRCS exam).

The Skullbase fellow will be responsible for the management of patients with skull base pathology under the care of Mr Nair, Mr Mendoza and Mr Dalton. The skull base neurosurgical team at Charing Cross Hospital has well established connections with the ENT, endocrine and neuro-radiology teams. Weekly multidisciplinary meetings for skull base, pituitary surgery, neuro-oncology and neuroradiology are in place

The clinical fellow will provide support in the outpatient clinics and training through supervision, to junior trainees working in the team and contribute to the regular teaching sessions of the department. The fellow will also contribute to a 1 in 7 on call rota.

Research to the level of presentations at national and international meetings, and publication in peer reviewed high impact factor journals is expected.

The post is for a period of 6 months from December 2025, with a view to extend to 12 months.

The duties are performed at both Charing Cross and St Mary’s Hospitals.
