Job Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Respiratory & Sleep Physiologist to join the ABUHB team. This post is for 30 hours per week and will be required to work across sites.
The post holder will work under the supervision of the Clinical Lead for Respiratory Medicine providing specialist Respiratory and Sleep investigations, undertaking a range of full lung function tests including reversibility, Bronchial Challenge, Cardio Pulmonary Exercise Test, 6 minute walk tests, blood gases, Body Plethysmography/Lung Volumes Body Box tests, treatment of all sleep disorders: initiation of PAP device therapy; inpatient, outpatient, domiciliary monitoring of patients, and help develop a system of telemonitoring of PAP device therapy reporting level 2 polygraphy.
The primary base is St Woolos Hospital; however the post holder will be required to conduct clinics at other hospitals within the Health Board
The post holder will play a major role in providing the Respiratory and Sleep Physiology service within the Health Board, aiding with diagnosis and establishing patients onto treatment, reviewing sleep patients in their own clinics, along with the ability to interpret and report on sleep and respiratory tests. The post holder must have the necessary experience or qualifications to work at the required level.
Main duties of the job
To help provide a highly specialist clinical physiologist service within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, this could include
working on both St Woolos Hospital and Nevill Hall Hospital sites.
To help provide a high quality, appropriate and effective specialist respiratory test service performing a full range of lung function
tests, Sleep Studies and CPAP set ups for outpatients; providing technical reports and interpretation where appropriate.
To be responsible for the monitoring and performance of calibration and quality control procedures for all equipment.
Undertake clinics in the out-patient setting.
To plan and manage own workload.
To independently undertake a range of routine and advanced diagnostic tests, procedures and provide specialist advice to
clinicians accordingly.
To interpret lung function test results and to explain their meaning clearly to clinicians / patients / carers.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
