Our Operational Technology team has a fantastic opportunity for a Smart Technology Engineer to join them.
The role can be based from either Manchester or Preston however the successful candidate will be required to spend time in both locations.
Our Role
As part of our transition to a smarter, more dynamic energy grid, we are seeking a motivated and technically skilled individual to join our team as a Smart Technology Engineer. This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals with a background in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Industrial Control Systems, who are eager to develop into a Smart Technology Engineer and specialise in Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) and Operational Technology (OT).
As a Smart Technology Engineer, you will leverage your knowledge of power applications to contribute to the development, configuration, and support of our Schneider Electric 3.10 Network Management System (NMS), including key functionalities such as customer load active system services (CLASS) and Active Network Management (ANM). Your work will play a crucial role in shaping grid management efficiency and supporting the growth of electrification, aligning with our company's roadmap and goals for a sustainable future.
What We’re Looking For
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Control, or a related field;
- A strong interest in power systems, smart grids, and operational technologies;
- The ability to code and script in languages such as Python, C#, or similar—especially for automation, data analysis, or system integration tasks;
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, RTUs, and network modelling tools;
- Experience with various software testing methods, including unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and acceptance testing.
