About Your Team

The Chief Customer Office (CCO) exists to drive commercial growth across all of Centrica Retail through focus on world class customer experience and highly attractive and compelling product and service propositions. 

About your role:

The Social Media Manager will work closely with the Social Media Lead to manage the social channels for British Gas and Hive. The primary objective of this role is to drive engagement and brand awareness through strategic social media management. This includes creating and curating content that resonates with our audience and aligns with our brand values. 

What will you be doing?

  • Develop and implement social media strategies to increase brand awareness and engagement. 
  • Create, curate, and manage published content (images, video, written) across all social channels. 
  • Monitor, listen, and respond to users in a “social” way while cultivating leads and sales. 
  • Analyse key metrics and tweak strategy as needed. 
  • Collaborate with other teams to manage reputation, identify key players, and coordinate actions.

Here's what we’re looking for:

We’re seeking a brilliant and experienced Social Media Manager with a deep understanding of key platforms—including Meta, X, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn—and how to leverage each effectively. You’ll bring exceptional writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation and communication skills, a solid grasp of online marketing and major channels, and a positive, customer-oriented approach with strong multitasking and organisational abilities.

In addition:

  • Analytical Thinking: The role involves analysing social media metrics and trends to make informed decisions about content strategy and engagement tactics. 
  • Judgment and Reasoning: The Social Media Manager must use sound judgment and reasoning to navigate complex situations, such as managing online reputation and responding to customer feedback. 
  • Creativity: Developing engaging and culturally relevant content requires creative problem-solving skills to ensure the content resonates with the target audience. 
  • Adaptability: The role often requires quick thinking and adaptability to respond to real-time events and changes in social media trends. 
  • Strategic Planning: The Social Media Manager needs to make strategic decisions about content planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to achieve the desired outcomes.
