Sanctuary Personnel is recruiting an experienced Fostering Team Manager to join a well-established Children’s Services fostering provision in Medway. This is a short-term opportunity (initial 3-month contract) designed to provide additional management capacity across a busy fostering service made up of four teams.

This role is ideal for a confident, hands-on manager who can step in from day one and provide strong leadership, oversight, and support across fostering support and development functions.

The Role

As Fostering Team Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a multidisciplinary team including Supervising Social Workers, Family Support Workers, and a Placement Officer. You will oversee the support and development of foster placements, ensuring high standards of practice, robust safeguarding, and positive outcomes for children and young people.

Key Requirements of the Social Worker - Team Manager:

• Managing and supporting a team delivering fostering support and development services
• Overseeing foster carer supervision, support, and development
• Leading and quality-assuring foster carer annual reviews
• Monitoring placement stability, standards, and compliance
• Facilitating and chairing meetings, panels, and forums with foster carers
• Providing professional guidance on complex fostering and safeguarding matters
• Supporting service-wide workload pressures across multiple teams

Requirements of the Social Worker - Team Manager:

• Social Work qualification and Social Work England registration
• Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualifying experience in a permanent local authority role
• Extensive experience managing mainstream fostering teams
• Strong knowledge of fostering regulations, standards, and safeguarding
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and support multidisciplinary teams
• Confident in chairing meetings and working directly with foster carers
• Creative, solution-focused approach balanced with robust risk management
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance (including carrying passengers)

Working Arrangements

• Hybrid working model
• 2–3 days per week office-based
• Full office attendance required when on duty (if applicable)
