The Role
Responsibilities
As a Social Worker within the YJST, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being and safeguarding of children and young people. Your key responsibilities include:
- Working collaborating with other professionals and agencies to ensure high quality strengths based assessments are completed.
- Working directly with children and families to provide support, guidance, and intervention to prevent and reduce offending.
- Conducting assessments and maintaining accurate and timely records
- Cover Youth Justice duty and attend court when required.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of services through participation in team meetings and supervision.
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Social Worker who possesses the following attributes:
- Qualified Social Worker and registration with Social Work England.
- You will hold a current driving licence and have use of a car.
- Experience in working within a Children and Family Services environment, ideally Youth Justice
- Sound knowledge of legislation, policies, and best practices related to child safeguarding.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.
- Strong assessment and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

This role requires the incumbent to have a car available at work to undertake his/her duties as they will be expected to undertake at least 1500 business miles per year. Essential Car User status attracts a lump sum allowance paid on a monthly basis as well as a free car parking space if he/she works at one of the Council’s corporate buildings.
