Morgan Stanley is seeking a Developer/Engineer to accelerate SDLC modernization by working hands-on with developers from across the bank to enable their successful migration to specific modern developer tooling and leveraging the experience gained in the process to collaborate with the modern platform teams on improving their products.

Responsibilities

We're looking for a smart, hands-on technologist who thrives on solving real-world problems by optimizing the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)-from coding to build to test to deploy. You'll be part of a team focused on enabling developer productivity through automation, reusable patterns, and modern tooling.

You'll not only identify opportunities for optimization but also prototype creative solutions, validate them through proof-of-concepts, and lead the journey from PoC to production, including onboarding and enabling teams to adopt your solutions at scale.

This is a highly visible role where you will likely be presenting to senior leadership on your findings and insights with these solutions so you should be comfortable identifying and using data to evidence success and being able to clearly and concisely present these insights.

Skill Requirements

  • Proficient in at least two modern language ecosytems (Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go, or C# and their supporting SDKs, testing tooling etc)
  • Experienced with CI/CD pipelines, build tools, and source-to-image workflows.
  • Knowledgeable in cloud-native infrastructure: e.g. Docker and Podman; Kubernetes (AKS, EKS, OpenShift); Terraform (IaC);
  • Familiar with observability tooling particularly the OpenTelemetry stack and tools including Grafana, Loki and Prometheus.
  • Familiar with Agile methodologies and outcome driven metric measurement frameworks like DORA and SPACE.
  • An advocate of DevOps and SRE ways of working - focusing on agility, frequency of delivery and quick turnaround to identification and fixing of issues.
  • Strong communicator and team player, active in communities like guilds or forums.
  • An interest in transforming concepts into functional prototypes and scale them into robust, production-ready systems.
  • Demonstrated experience developing AI applications, with a preference for Generative AI and LLM-based solutions.

Skills Desired

  • A strong interest in, or experience with, Generative AI and related developer tools such as GitHub CoPilot, Cursor, Windsurf, Claude Code and other related tools, and a variety of models such as OpenAI/GPT models, Anthropic Claude, Gemini etc.
  • A developer-centric approach with expertise in creating reusable components and reference implementations.
  • Ability to collate and present metrics and data using tools like PowerBI.
  • Experience in customer-facing positions or in influencing and engaging internal developer communities.
