About The Team/ Role
This role is critical in building the technology that powers travel payment systems used by Travel globally. As a Software Development Engineer 4 (SDE4), you will serve as a senior individual contributor driving architecture, technical standards, and engineering practices across teams. You will lead complex system design initiatives and contribute to shaping long-term platform evolution.
This position is based in our London office, with flexible hybrid working options. It offers the opportunity to work on global travel products while contributing directly to our regional strategy and technical leadership in the UK.
How You’ll Make An Impact
As a Software Development Engineer, you will:
- Architect and build distributed, secure, and scalable backend systems.
- Lead large-scale, cross-team engineering initiatives and drive alignment.
- Drive service reliability, observability, and performance improvements.
- Review and guide the design and implementation work of engineers across teams.
- Coach, mentor, and influence engineering culture and technical standards.
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering leaders to align roadmaps.
Experience You'll Bring
- Previous professional software development experience.
- Proven expertise in building and operating distributed backend systems.
- Strong technical leadership in c-sharp and microservices.
- Deep understanding of cloud-native environments (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with messaging systems (Kafka), and gRPC APIs.
- Working knowledge of AI/ML integration in backend services.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentorship skills.
