Software Engineering Manager

Job Summary 

We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager with Azure Cloud experience to lead the software team of our connected energy storage systems business. The successful candidate will lead our software and data science teams and will be responsible for the design, architecture, review and management of our IoT infrastructure and cloud services. 

This role is based at our head office in Oxford in the UK.

Brill Power develops innovative software and hardware for battery system and energy management. The technology development led/overseen by the successful Software Engineering Manager candidate includes: 

• Azure cloud platform which hosts our internal and customer facing cloud services 
• External user interfaces for our cloud services (web UIs, APIs, apps) 
• IoT infrastructure for data acquisition and communication with/between battery energy storage systems, battery analytics and energy management software and algorithms 
• Data pipelines and management  

Job Overview and Responsibilities 

The person who joins us as Software Engineering Manager will define the requirements, approve code, communicate performance, and lead the team responsible for Brill Power’s IoT infrastructure and cloud services, with a strong focus on data and cyber security, scalability, and performance. They will lead and coordinate with our in-house experts in battery systems and data science, and work closely with our parent company’s international technical teams.  

Key responsibilities include: 

• Collaboration and Communication: Leading/working with internal and external software teams, battery & data experts, and business teams.  
• Data & Cyber Security: Data and cyber security across our entire software portfolio. This includes secure device onboarding, data transmission & management, user authentication and platform compliance. 
• External Interfaces: Overseeing the development of interfaces for our cloud services, including web UI, APIs and apps. 

Skills & Experience 

Successful candidates will have experience with the following: 

• Track record of successfully delivering and maintaining customer-facing cloud-based software products. 
• Management & Leadership: Experience leading projects, code bases, and managing people. 
• Education: Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience. 
• Experience: Minimum 8 years’ experience working in this field 
• Data & Cyber security:

• Able to work autonomously 
• Comfortable working in a small team with a diverse range of responsibilities
