Software Engineering Squad Lead

We're looking for a collaborative and technically confident Software Engineering Squad Lead to guide a cross-functional squad of developers, testers, and analysts. You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality software solutions while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, inclusion, and innovation. . In this role, you will play a crucial part in guiding the team through the entire software development lifecycle while ensuring alignment with business objectives.

About the role

You'll lead and support a diverse team—mentoring individuals, conducting regular one-to-ones, and helping team members grow their skills and careers. You'll create an environment where everyone feels empowered to contribute and succeed.

As the Software Engineering Squad Lead, you'll facilitate agile ceremonies like sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives. You'll manage the squad's backlog, prioritising work to ensure alignment with business goals and timely delivery.

You'll work closely with product owners and stakeholders to define scope, gather requirements, and keep everyone informed on progress, risks, and blockers. Your communication will help ensure transparency and trust throughout the project lifecycle.

On the technical side, you'll provide guidance and oversight—reviewing designs, supporting best practices, and ensuring solutions meet performance and quality standards. You'll champion a culture of quality, ensuring robust testing strategies are in place and delivery metrics are tracked and improved.

You'll also manage team resources, help with recruitment and onboarding, and stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends to keep your squad ahead of the curve.

What you will be doing:

• Team Leadership: Inspire and develop your team, conducting regular performance reviews and providing constructive feedback to foster a collaborative environment.
• Agile Delivery Management: Facilitate agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives) to enhance team collaboration and project outcomes.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, gathering requirements and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Technical Oversight: Provide guidance on best practices and review technical designs to ensure quality and performance.
• Quality Assurance: Promote a culture of quality by implementing testing strategies and monitoring metrics for delivered solutions.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify process improvement opportunities and stay updated on industry trends to enhance team efficiency.
• Resource Management: Effectively manage team resources, ensuring the right skills are available for project requirements and assisting in recruitment.

What we are looking for:

• Proven experience in a senior software delivery role, leading cross-functional teams in an agile environment.
• Strong technical background in software development, particularly with C# .NET 8+, YAML/bicep, SQL, and Azure cloud.
• Experience managing Azure environments, including Cosmos/Azure SQL, Functions/Containers, and Data Bricks.
• Familiarity with industry-standard practices and tools such as DORA, RESTful APIs, GIT, and continuous delivery.
