Job Purpose
As software support analyst you will support the Technology Governance Manager in the administration and analysis of the Software support and maintenance budget
Maintaining correct, reliable and complete data sets, to agreed quality standards, ensuring that financial performance is up to date and accurate at all times
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Collect, maintain and track financial and contractual data to administer the software support and maintenance budget. Performing analysis on the Software support and maintenance budget e.g. spend to date, categories, risk and efficiencies to provide trend analysis, and alternative versions of data.
- Reconcile financial trackers to actual and committed spend in SAP and produce reliable and accurate reports including month end, quarterly, ad-hoc using Excel, PowerPoint and Tableau to meet a variety of needs, suitable for senior management and to support decision making.
- Knowledge of commercial and Technology services processes to understand terminology, use and implications of software products, licenses and support models and internal financial management and budget setting processes, i.e. differences between capex and opex management, the internal control manual governance and approval routes.
- Liaise with internal SMEs to justify business need for spend, impact and implications on the software support and maintenance budget.
- Manage general queries and requests, report generation and data analysis, escalating as appropriate and provide guidance, support and advice to internal customers and own team on software support and maintenance budget processes.
Technical Skills & Experience
- Good knowledge of internal financial management (capex / opex), budget setting and reporting and associated system processes e.g. SAP.
- Good analytical skills, able to interpret data and identify trends and underlying reasons and highly competent in analytical and reporting tools e.g. Excel, Tableau and able to provide alternative cuts and views of data sets
- Sound and comprehensive communication skills to convey complex financial information in a style appropriate for the audience and senior stakeholders. With the ability to manage multiple and often competing priorities and workloads balancing between urgency, risk and business value to effectively manage time.
- Works well under pressure and with multiple customers/ teams while maintaining meticulous attention to detail and forward thinking, with a flexible approach to change and focus on continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of software support, maintenance and licensing models, and software lifecycle to aid understanding of cost and benefit profiles and commercial processes, vendor management, commercial negotiation and agreement terms and conditions.
