Salary – National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £59,100 to £80,233 and London £64,900 to £88,100 pro rata (salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

As a Lead Associate, you’ll contribute to how we regulate 45,000 firms. You’ll collaborate with colleagues to shape our regulatory framework and lead on key supervisory processes—making this a visible and influential role.

You’ll build trusted relationships with senior leaders across SPC and the wider FCA, gaining valuable insight into our operations and helping embed thoughtful enhancements aligned with our FCA Strategy. The work is varied, the exposure is wide, and your contribution will truly matter.

What will you be doing?

  • Shape strategy and drive innovation by partnering with the Manager to identify opportunities, improve ways of working, and foster a culture of learning and growth
  • Lead meaningful change through the design and delivery of improvement projects that turn ideas into practical, high-impact outcomes
  • Influence decision-making by presenting clear, well-evidenced recommendations to senior committees and helping shape how SPC operates
  • Collaborate across teams to build trusted relationships, understand user needs, and embed feedback into everything we deliver
  • Connect across the FCA to align our frameworks with wider organisational goals, working closely with Authorisations, Enforcement, and Technology teams
  • Support and develop others by coaching team members, contributing to recruitment, and helping colleagues build fulfilling careers

Which skills are required?

Minimum

  • Experience in producing high-quality written materials such as reports and committee papers, with strong verbal communication skills and the ability to present analysis clearly and persuasively to senior audiences
  • Prior experience working independently with senior stakeholders, with the ability to build trusted relationships, influence outcomes, offer constructive challenge and role model FCA values
  • Prior experience navigating the FCA’s supervisory approach and priorities, with an understanding of its regulatory and operational context

Essential

  • Strong delivery focus with excellent planning, prioritisation, and risk management skills
  • Skilled in analysing complex information and communicating insights clearly, both verbally and in writing
  • Proactive and strategic thinker with a solutions-oriented mindset and broad perspective
  • Self-driven and resourceful, able to work independently and resolve issues with initiative
  • Adaptable and open to change, actively seeking opportunities to improve and innovate
  • Promotes knowledge sharing and fosters a collaborative information culture
  • Deep understanding of FCA regulatory processes and tools, with practical application across the Division
