Job overview

The CYP Eating Disorders Day Hospital Service is currently mobilising. This specialist provision delivers intensive, evidence-based care to children & young people experiencing moderate to severe eating disorders. This innovative service aims to bridge the gap between inpatient and community care, offering a safe and structured alternative to Tier 4 admission & facilitating earlier discharge from hospital settings.

In the role you will work as an advanced Dietitian within the service working with children and young people who require specialist dietetic input. You will work as part of a multi -disciplinary team-providing highly specialist assessment, formulation advice and consultation to young people and their families who are eligible for the day hospital. You will provide evidence-based advice and support around dietary input, and provide specialist clinical supervision, dietary advice and training to colleagues as required.

The role will also entail offering advice and consultation on CYP dietary care to non-dietetic colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service’s policies and procedures.

There will be an opportunity to utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.

Children and Young People's Eating Disorder Service

Main duties of the job

To provide specialist dietetic service to children and young people with eating disorders (ED), alongside provision to outpatients as required
To undertake comprehensive assessments of each young persons diet and lifestyle to formulate individualised management and treatment plans ensuring optimal outcome whilst minimising risk.
To provide specialist advice to patients with eating disorders deemed to be a high physical risk
To be aware of and able to identify patients at high psychiatric risk (e.g. of suicide) and liaise with the MDT regarding the management of risk in these patients.
To act as a resource to junior members or non-registers support staff with placements/working within the EDDH
To write, implement and monitor guidelines for management of patients with eating disorders receiving outpatient care

To provide input for the training of student Dietitians.

To work autonomously to organise, provide and manage all CYP patients diagnosed with an eating disorder receiving multi-disciplinary team care while under the care of the CYP Eating Disorders Day Hospital.
