The role
A vacancy exists for a Marine & Offshore Coatings Specialist in our Non-Metallic and Coatings Marine Materials Group in our Global Technical Support Office. We have a core team of specialists based at our Southampton Global Technology Centre, UK, where a vacancy has arisen.
Working closely with the team of specialist colleagues and technical support offices, this role will have specific responsibilities for product qualification test requirements and certification activities, working as a team to ensure compliance with our Rules and Regulations. Involvement and input into key Research and Technology projects will also be required.
Successful candidates will have the following skillset:
- Experience in non-metallic material formulation /development/qualification and QA and experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience of material characterisation and qualification testing.
- Knowledge and experience in the application of relevant industry standards and practices
What You Bring
A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd’s Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum of two years programme) – Degree encompassing Materials Science, or Physical Sciences with a large focus on non-metallic materials.
Minimum of 2 years industrial experience ideally gained in marine or related area working with non-metallic materials.
- Working towards achieving Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
- Demonstrable knowledge and practice of formulation of engineering polymers, including manufacturing processes and applications.
- Understanding of the design, manufacture and certification aspects of engineering polymers and/or non-metallic materials.
- Demonstrable understanding of the Project Management process, gained through experience and training.
- Membership of an appropriate professional institution preferred.
- Familiarity with IT software including database operation.
- Proficiency in the English Language commensurate with the work.
