Specialist Radiographer, Cardiology. Band 6 Fixed Term for 12 months. 20hrs hours per week
We have a fantastic secondment opportunity to cover 12 months Maternity leave for a Band 6 Specialist Radiographer in the Heart Centre CIC.
We have a 12 bedded unit with a radial lounge caring for cardiology in- patients and elective day patients undergoing a range of procedures including percutaneous coronary intervention, injectable loop recorder insertion and PPM and an on call service out of hours for primary PCI. We currently have one catheterisation lab but are in the process of expanding and looking for experienced radiographers who are caring, work well within our small team and have vision and motivation to help move the service we provide forward.
Main duties of the job
The Main Duties Of This Role Include:
- Become expert in operating the highly complex Medical Devices used in delivering the Radiographic aspects of this service
- Become expert in conforming to the highest standards of radiographic techniques
- Maintain competence in the use of all relevant Medical Devices
- Regularly review the current developments in diagnostic and interventional cardiac imaging, making recommendations for changes in practice informed by NICE and other evidence based guidelines.
- Manage the radiographic aspects of the cardiac catheter laboratory including the environment and the equipment.
- Develop and maintain a quality assurance program for the x-ray equipment.
- Manage the injection of contrast via a powered injector ensuring the parameters are adjusted accurately for each injection and the timing of each injection is optimum.
