Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of Frimley Park Hospital ED as Specialty Doctor – Tier 4 in Emergency Medicine. Once in post opportunity would be available to develop into a CESR post.
The post will comprise of mostly clinical duties, however, an integral part of the post will be the supervision and teaching of training grade doctors on the shop floor.
The successful applicant will work in the ED, gaining experience in working in a busy ED with exposure to a variety of Emergency Medicine presentations.
Main duties of the job
Clinical duties will include all those duties normally expected of a Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine (level 4 and above) in the UK and will account for the majority of the appointee's time.
In addition the appointee will be expected to take part in the formal teaching and on-going audit programmes within the directorate. Admin time will be allocated from the clinical component of the post.

Essential criteria
- Demonstrate a wide grounding during training in all aspects Acute / Emergency Care.
- MBBS or equivalent
- Understands the principles of patient confidentiality, consent and data protection
- Understands the need for and appreciates the role of audit in clinical practice
- Understands the importance of Child Protection and has a sound knowledge of national management guidelines.
- FRCEM Primary or equivalent
- FRCEM Intermediate or equivalent
Desirable criteria
SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES FOR ROLE
Essential criteria
- ALS
- Aware of own limitations, consults senior colleagues appropriately and knows when to ask for help
- Able to discuss treatment options with patients, and their parents or guardians, in a way they can understand
- Able to contribute to teaching and learning of others in the clinical setting
Desirable criteria
- APLS
- ATLS
- Demonstrates a critical and enquiring approach to knowledge acquisition
- Evidence of leadership qualities (not necessarily in medicine)
- Other work experience/outside interests
Professional/ Specialist/ Functional Experience
Essential criteria
- Successful completion of Foundation programme and a minimum of one year’s training post Foundation training to have included Emergency Medicine
- Full GMC Registration to cover the scope of employment
Desirable criteria
- Audit and Clinical Governance- keen to contribute to departmental audit projects and awareness of clinical governance issues
- Previous Research experience
- Experience of collecting, analysing and presenting data orally and in writing
