Speech and Language Therapist NHS Band 6 minimum
The Link School is a special school situated in the London Borough of Sutton providing education for up to 160 students aged 4 to 18 who have speech, language and communication needs. Many of the pupils are also on the autistic spectrum alongside having a wide range of cognitive challenges.
Due to expansion, we have opportunities to work across 3 of our sites with flexibility for full-time or part-time positions available.
The post holder will join an established team of onsite Speech and Language Therapists, who are jointly responsible for providing a therapy service on our Primary and Satellite sites. The team works in partnership with teachers, Occupational therapists and support staff, offering an integrated therapy approach in our child centred classrooms.
We require an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to work on our primary site within our pathway 1 and 2 learning groups, which may include some neurodiversity including autism, ADHD and down syndrome and on our Satellite sites with autistic children who have a demand avoidant profile. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to an established service that has proven to be successful in supporting children in all areas of their communication development.
You will work alongside a dedicated team of professionals that seek to help pupils to learn, express their ideas and to communicate effectively to develop friendships and grow in confidence and self- esteem. We offer a combination of small, structured classrooms and continuous provision with an individualised approach that provides child-centred learning to best suit each child’s learning style. We use a high level of visual support and language adaptation (including Makaton signing and AAC) in order to help the children reach their full potential.
This role will suit a flexible, team player, a creative and enthusiastic individual who is a confident child-centred practitioner and can champion communication with a long- term view to help our children to overcome barriers today so that they can look forward to a bright future tomorrow.
