Speech and Language Therapist

24 Hours per week, 40 weeks per year

Full Time Equivalent Salary: £44,567 - £50,778*

Actual Working Salary: £23,461 - £26,731*


(To be appointed on the higher-grade salary, additional experiences are required: experience in delivering training to a wide range of staff, able to provide SALT professional supervision to other SALT within local provisions and experience working with children/adolescents with SEND)

Salary inclusive of £2,000 market supplement


The purpose of the role is to work therapeutically with specific or small groups of students based on assessments of the students support and developmental needs.


As a Speech and Language Therapist with the Trust, you would have the opportunity to:

  • Deliver appropriate interventions, including informal and formal assessment through observation and staff/parent/carer liaison through weekly sessions which can be direct (1:1), small group and class-based interventions and include therapy in the craft and outdoor space
  • Have time to plan individualized, functional, student-centred programs across a variety of contexts (school-based, community-based, bakery, craft, land-based at our biodynamic farm – depending on the needs of the students).
  • Manage your own caseload, ensuring coverage of EHCP targets and student need, nurturing solid working relationships with staff and students.
  • The opportunity to facilitate meaningful change with hands-on intervention and practice.
  • Protected time for reflection and MDT liaison with the therapies team, staff and wider trust as well the opportunities to upskill staff to embed practices across the curriculum.
  • Work in a consultative capacity to ensure delivery of ongoing programmes, upskilling TAs and teachers to deliver programmes or intervention, monitor progress and efficacy and offer development/training for peers and education staff.
  • Collaborate effectively with Special Educational Needs Coordinator


The post holder will be expected to embrace, articulate and work with the Trust’s ethos, which is informed by Steiner education, is maintained, implemented and integrated within the therapeutic provision within the school.


To undertake this position successfully you will have:

  • A BA or BSc in Clinical Communication Studies or equivalent.
  • Membership of the Health Professional Council and Royal College of Speech and Language
  • Knowledge of specialist education.
  • Experience of working with autism, learners with learning difficulties and/ or learning disabilities and social-emotional behaviour.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a flexible and professional approach to work.
