Job Summary
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for those interested in supporting the communication development of some of the youngest children in the Borough and supporting their families accessing children's centres. It also offers the experience of working one day a week for the multi disciplinary feeding team. The job is part administrative and part clinical - working under the supervision of a qualified practitioner. This role is 0.6 whole time equivalent and would suit someone wanting to work part time or during the school day.
Main duties of the job
To support our SLT team to provide a speech and language therapy service to children attending the children's centres and our drop in sessions 'Talkshop'. It also involves supporting the multi disciplinary feeding team.
- Supporting our SLT team to provide a speech and language therapy service to children attending the children's centres or clinic for feeding advice.
- To attend stay and play sessions to promote communication development and give advice to parents and carers
- Modelling for centre staff
- Encouraging and supporting children's centres to become a communication friendly environment
- Providing administrative support to SLTs and the feeding team
- To attend team meetings and frequently liaise with other members of the team
- Recording patient information on client database (RiO)
- Recording numbers attending groups and reporting to the SLT
- Receiving calls from parents and schools

The Children's Therapy team consists of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech and language therapists. Therapists work in multi-disciplinary/multi agency teams across the borough of Wandsworth.
