An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new part time post based in our department in Chelsea. This exciting role involves assessment and management of patients with a variety of oncology diagnoses, including head and neck cancer, gastrointestinal and a range of other tumour sites. The post holder will have responsibility to set up a new gastrointestinal pathway, in line with our already established and robust head and neck cancer pathway. This post requires skills in video fluoroscopy and FEES assessments as well as supporting more junior colleagues and students. We have a collaborative AHP team and you will have access to excellent support, regular in service training, both within SLT and the wider therapy team as well as journal clubs and bespoke research access.

To be responsible for the provision of a highly specialist clinical service, from acute to palliative and terminal stages of care, across the lifespan, to patients referred to the Trust with a wide range of communication and/or swallowing disorders secondary to cancer and/or its treatment. The main referral source is the Head and Neck (H&N) Unit who provide a clinically complex case load where patients have undergone radical treatment including surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
To take the SLT lead on gastrointestinal cancers within the Trust including leading on the development of protocols and pathways in this clinical area, working closely with and actively participating in MDTs; liaising with other specialist hospitals to ensure appropriate common care pathways are established and effective and appropriate information is maintained.
To take the SLT role in the development and delivery of teaching and training programmes for professionals and other staff as required.
