Description
What To Expect Join Tesla's dynamic Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) team as a Sr. EHS Specialist focused on Construction for our Charging Infrastructure. In this pivotal role, you'll drive EHS process excellence and risk reduction across our expanding charging network and energy products in the EMEA region. Reporting to the EHS Director, Energy and Charging, you'll help establish and sustain world-class standards while collaborating with regional leadership, engineering teams, regulatory bodies, front-line operations, installation partners, vendors, and more to foster continuous improvement in design, deployment, and operations.
We're seeking a self-motivated professional who thrives in both independent and collaborative environments, responds proactively to concerns from market leaders, managers, and employees, and embodies strong leadership, organizational, communication, analytical, and detail-oriented skills. At Tesla, you'll work in a fast-paced, innovative setting where exceptional contributions are recognized and rewarded. This position is based in the Netherlands, United Kingdom, or France, with up to 30% regional travel—offering opportunities to explore diverse markets while advancing sustainable energy solutions.
What You'll Do
Act as a trusted EHS advisor to Charging leadership, construction managers, front-line staff, and installation partners, delivering education, tools, and hands-on support to enable seamless EHS execution
Proactively identify, escalate, and mitigate key EHS risks across all operational phases, using field observations, assurance activities, and stakeholder collaboration to maintain risks at acceptable levels
Serve as a technical expert in construction and EHS risk management for design, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance, with a focus on electrical safety and innovative solutions
Lead training sessions, inspections, event learnings, and emergency preparedness initiatives to shape daily operations and drive EHS improvements that align with Tesla's visionary goals and values
Investigate EHS events, analyze root causes, develop preventative actions, and promote Human & Organizational Performance principles through teamwork with management and cross-functional groups
Spot operational gaps and pioneer creative EHS solutions, including those related to electrical safety, via collaborative efforts that leverage Tesla's 'first-principles' thinking
Facilitate engaging EHS meetings to share best practices, learnings, and performance metrics, while participating in field activities to empower teams and minimize risks
What You'll Bring
Several years of progressive EHS experience at an operations level, ideally in field installation, asset operations, or related energy sectors
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus
Extensive hands-on experience in electric power generation, transmission, storage, or distribution—knowledge of lithium-ion battery storage is highly desirable
Expertise in construction management, electrical safety, emergency management, environmental risks, and relevant regulations (e.g., EU Directives, NFPA 70-E, IEEE, NEC), including practical work with energized equipment. We encourage familiarity with country-specific standards in the Netherlands (e.g., Arbowet), UK (e.g., Health and Safety at Work Act), or France (e.g., Code du Travail)
Fluency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills; the ability to influence diverse, multinational teams is essential. Proficiency in additional languages (e.g., Dutch, French, or German) is a strong advantage to support our EMEA operations
CSP certification (or local equivalents like NEBOSH in the UK or similar in France/Netherlands) is preferred, along with strong skills in MS Office 365 Suite (including SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Teams)
Exceptional interpersonal, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities, with a proven track record of working independently in a fast-paced, globally expanding organization using innovative, 'first-principles' approaches
