Meet the team behind this journey
The language apps team is the team that builds the experience and workflows to enable our customers to benefit from all of our advanced translation and writing models at scale. Working across iOS, Android, Desktop and Mobile web for all of DeepLs customers ranging from students to global enterprises, our mission is to provide a unified language workspace to breakdown communication barriers and improve productivity in real life applications.
Your Responsibilities
- Facilitate the overall architecture of our web apps across teams, system owners and engineers.
- Provide guidance on the architecture and its components through the commissioning and decommissioning of all services involved.
- Ownership of DeepL’s frontend architecture roadmap
- Provide hands-on technical leadership on projects with a size and scope of +5 teams
- Helping teams plan and estimate activities
- Supporting and challenging a realistic roadmap with team leads and product managers, challenging timelines and providing predictability of deliverables to the business.
- Mentor, develop and provide support for other senior software engineers, engineering managers and business leaders.
Qualities we look for
Must-haves
- Fullstack engineer, needs to have proven experience refactoring large frontends or similar large migrations in a leading role
- Highly proficient engineer, thought leader on frontend / web application architecture. Excellence in typescript and react frameworks are a must-have, experience in strongly typed backend languages is a plus.
- Experience initiating and driving large technical projects involving collaboration with multiple teams across an organization
- Experience with performance optimization and scaling of highly interactive web applications
- Proactive and proficient in stakeholder communication in English, ensuring clear and effective interactions
- Demonstrated ability to influence and mentor teams and individuals across multiple departments or larger organizational structures
- A drive and ability to be close to technical details where necessary, but to zoom out and coordinate where possible
Specific experience that will make you stand out from other candidates
- Experience with Next.JS
- Experience building highly interactive frontends, ideally text editors
- Experience with websockets
