The Role
We are looking for a highly experienced and strategic Staff Cloud Network Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of our cloud and hybrid network infrastructure. This role requires deep expertise in traditional networking as well as advanced proficiency in cloud networking across AWS and Azure. As a Staff Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader, mentor, and key contributor to our cloud transformation initiatives.
Your day-to-day
- Architect and lead the implementation of scalable, secure, and resilient cloud network solutions in AWS and Azure.
- Define and drive network strategy across hybrid environments, integrating on-premises infrastructure with cloud platforms.
- Lead cross-functional efforts to improve network performance, reliability, and security.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in cloud networking, guiding engineering teams and influencing architectural decisions.
- Develop and enforce best practices for network automation, monitoring, and incident response.
- Collaborate with InfoSec, DevOps, and application teams to ensure secure and compliant network designs.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations to improve network architecture and operations.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of internal documentation and training materials.
What You Bring To The Team
- Extensive experience in network engineering, with at least 3 years focused on cloud networking.
- Expert-level knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, DNS, DHCP, EVPN, VXLAN, etc.).
- Deep experience with AWS (VPC, Transit Gateway, PrivateLink, etc.) and Azure (Virtual Network, ExpressRoute, NSGs, etc.).
- Strong background in hybrid connectivity solutions (VPN, Direct Connect, ExpressRoute).
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and scripting (Python, PowerShell).
- Proven track record of leading complex technical projects and influencing architectural decisions.
- BSc Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty or Azure Network Engineer Associate.
- Experience with cloud firewalls, and zero-trust networking models.
- Familiarity with container networking (Kubernetes, service meshes).
- Experience in regulated environments (e.g., healthcare, finance) with compliance requirements.
