Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for Band 5 RN to join the Emergency Department at the Royal Sussex County Hospital.

We are a designated adult Major Trauma Centre, one of only 22 in England. We are also a standard Trauma Centre for Paediatrics and are supported in the care of these patients by our colleagues from the dedicated children's Emergency Department at the co-located Royal Alexandra Children's' Hospital.

The Emergency Department consists of a Resuscitation department with 5 adult bays. 25 Major spaces, a dedicated Urgent Treatment centre supported by a GP service and Emergency Nurse Practitioners. There is a 12 chaired Ambulatory Clinical Decision’s Unit. The ED is also support by our embedded mental health liaison team provided by Sussex Partnership NHS Trust.

The ED is a busy and clinically diverse environment and you will work in all areas of the department supporting patients arriving both by themselves or with the ambulance service. You should expect to be busy throughout your shift and be ready to work flexibly and to respond to rapidly changing circumstances.

We welcome applications from those who currently hold a UK NMC registration. If you currently hold an overseas nursing qualification and require sponsorship we are not currently direct hiring Internationally Qualified Nurses.

We are keen to recruit enthusiastic, motivated nurses, who are able to work in a fast paced and at times challenging environment. Applicants will ideally have a some acute experience.

  • Work as part of a designated clinical and care team delivering care that focuses on the direct needs of the individual
  • Autonomously carry out clinical and care tasks and responsibilities to a high standard and competency, or under the direction and supervision of a more senior RN, or other registered care professionals, where competency in that area is still developing
  • Take responsibility for developing own clinical competence, leadership and reflective practice skills within the workplace
