Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 5 Staff Nurse to join the Lung Cancer Screening (LCS) Programme.
The primary aim of the screening programme is to reduce mortality from lung cancer. The LCS nursing team provide lung health checks for participants in Southampton, Lymington, New Forest, Romsey and North Baddesley and Eastleigh aged 55-74, who are or have been smokers, and where required will provide a low dose CT scan.
The LCS nursing team cover telephone and face-to-face clinics which operate Mon – Fri 8.00am to 6.00pm.
The service is delivered from a mobile CT which is currently located at the RSH, along with some of our admin offices.

What You’ll Do
Assist and support the Lung Cancer Screening Programme to deliver an effective and seamless service to participants who are invited for lung health checks.
Support the day to day clinical and administrative responsibilities, ensuring completion of the minimum datasets according to local and national guidance/standards.

Qualifications / Training Required
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse on relevant part of the register.
- Evidence of ongoing professional and personal development.
Desirable criteria
Previous or relevant experience necessary
Essential criteria
- Considerable post registration experience within nursing.
- An awareness of NHS Plan, NSF and clinical governance priorities.
Desirable criteria
- Post registration experience within cardiovascular and thoracic
Aptitudes And Skills Required
Essential criteria
- Good communication skills.
- Clear written communication.
- Able to use initiative.
- Experience working with IT systems and IT skills.

- Ability to work across multiple sites within Southampton which may include a mobile unit, community hospital site, UHS site, RSH site or working from home.
