Band 5 Staff Nurse - Pre Assessment Clinic

Have you extensive post registration in a surgical and / or medical ward.
Pre-assessment personnel play a pivotal role in delivering safe and efficient pre-operative care by optimising patients for surgery.
Our service see’s 20,000 patients a year, optimising their health to ensure they are at their best level of fitness prior to Anaesthetic and Surgery.
We support you through a supernumerary period of 4-6weeks.

You will be working with the multi-disciplinary teams, including GP’s and Anaesthetists to provide effective assessment to ensure our patients and their families/carers receive excellent preparation for surgical procedures.
It is an exciting time to join our service as we have moved into Epic. We have recently introduced a state of the art digital preoperative assessment programme and our aim is provide all our patients with the highest standard of surgical care. We also pre assess our patients face to face in the clinic and via telephone as required.
Our working days are Monday to Saturday from 0900-1900 – cross site working between Guy’s & St Thomas Hospital.
Our pre-assessment personnel will play an important role in assessing patients for specialities including ENT, Orthopaedics, Urology, Vascular, Breast, Plastics and general surgery and others.
Once your competencies are signed off you are required to make autonomous decisions regarding your patients. You are also expected to support the service, management and your colleagues.
